It is time to recognize the February Indiana Senior High Eye Care Player of the Month.

Coaches have selected or nominated two special players from their team to be nominated for this month award.   The coaches have also written several sentences about their athlete they have selected.  The webmaster at VNN will set up the voting process asap. Hopeful the voting process will begin Friday February 17th in the afternoon.   Voting will conclude on February 28th.  The webmaster will contact the athletic office with the winning player of the month.  The athletic department will make the announcement in early March.

Here are our honored athletes for the month of February.   Please be part of our selection process by voting for one of the athlete below.

Macey Phillips – Cheerleading:  Macey is the most spirited cheerleader at boys and girls basketball games.  She watches the game very closely and cheers every positive play.

Ryan Wilson – Cheerleading:  Ryan is always pushing to do the best he can be.  He is very quick to learn what he needs to do at cheer and he puts the safety of the girls first.

Clara Sherwood – Swimming:  Clara has had an outstanding year and has been able to overcome an injury from the past year.  Clara has really stepped up for the girls’ team this year.

Josh Mbogo – Swimming:  Josh has really worked hard all season long to make himself a better swimmer.   Josh has done some amazing things for us as a team in his first year of swimming.

Abby Myers – Girls’ Basketball:   Abby has been the lone senior this year’s team providing much team leadership and awesome basketball play.  Kids don’t get any better than Abby Myers.

Jake Benhart – Boys’ Basketball:  Jake is leading the basketball team in scoring this year.  Jake scored a season high 28 points in the regular season finale against Derry.

Ryan Hoff – Boys’ Basketball: Ryan has accepted a leadership role on the basketball team the past month.  Ryan’s athleticism and hard play lead the team to it’s fourth consecutive section title.

Maddie Redhead-Kristin – Winter Track/Field:  Maddie has set new Indiana High school Indoor Track and Field records in the 60 meter dash and 200 meters this season.

Sam Lenze – Winter Track/Field:  Sam has been a part of 3 relays which have set new Indoor Winter Indiana Track and Field records this season.   The races that Sam has a part of the records are the 4×400 meters, 4×800 meters and distance medley.

Tyler Barker – Hockey:  Tyler has a point in every game this season since the Christmas break.  Tyler is an exceptional two way player and but leads the offense with his hard work and determination.

Mitchell Lewis – Hockey:  Mitchell has been a great captain and a leader for our program this year.  Mitchell works both ends of the ice and controls the game with his speed and knowledge.  He is a natural talent and helps boost the confidence of those players around him.

Jordan Smith – Wrestling:  Jordan has a great pleasant attitude no matter win or lose.  Jordan has great sportsmanship, a team leader, is selflessness, is hard working and is a determined wrestler.

Dylan McAnulty – Wrestling:  Dylan is a wrestler that has old fashioned raw determination with great sportsmanship.   Dylan, a team leader with a great work ethic, strives to be the best, has heart  and is open to learning from winning or losing.

Austin Homer – 9th Grade Basketball:  Austin lead the team in points this month,  Austin had a huge game vs. Mt. pleasant in a big win.
